Standardized Workflow

How We Make Wholesale Granite Monuments — 12-Step Standardized Process

Boda Stone has workshop and stone-business heritage dating to 1996 and operates through the current legal entity registered in 2017. Every step has defined quality checkpoints, measurable tolerances, and documented procedures — giving monument importers, wholesalers, and cemetery operators confidence that every piece meets their exact specifications.

Step 01: Raw Block Selection
01

Raw Block Selection

Inspect incoming granite blocks for color consistency, structural integrity, and grain uniformity. Only premium-grade blocks pass our selection criteria. Blocks not meeting the selection criteria are segregated before production.

QC: Color inspection, crack detection, grain analysis
Step 02: Gang Saw Cutting
02

Gang Saw Cutting

Large diamond-blade gang saws cut raw blocks into workable slabs at precise thicknesses. Automated measurement systems ensure drawing-defined tolerance accuracy on every cut.

QC: Thickness tolerance drawing-defined tolerance
Step 03: Surface Polishing
03

Surface Polishing

Multi-head automatic polishing lines achieve mirror-finish surfaces. Shanxi Black reaches the specified gloss level; other granites the specified gloss level. Consistent batch-to-batch finish.

QC: Gloss meter verification the specified gloss level
Step 04: Monument Shaping
04

Monument Shaping

CNC profiling machines shape monument tops — serpentine, ogee, oval, gothic, and custom profiles. Die and base dimensions cut to exact specifications.

QC: Dimensional verification precise tolerance
Step 05: Edge Profiling
05

Edge Profiling

Secondary shaping for edge details — chamfers, bullnose, bevels, rock-pitch. Multiple profiles available per monument configuration.

QC: Profile template matching
Step 06: Hand Polish & Finishing
06

Hand Polish & Finishing

Skilled artisans hand-polish edges, curves, and hard-to-reach areas that machines cannot access. Ensures seamless transitions between polished and textured surfaces.

QC: Visual + tactile inspection
Step 07: CNC & Hand Carving
07

CNC & Hand Carving

5-axis CNC machines execute complex 3D relief carvings. Master carvers then refine details by hand — roses, angels, portraits, and decorative motifs.

QC: Design fidelity check against CAD model
Step 08: Sandblasting
08

Sandblasting

Industrial sandblasting creates deep-cut lettering, decorative borders, and textured background surfaces. Controlled media flow ensures clean, consistent depth.

QC: Depth uniformity, letter clarity
Step 09: Laser Etching
09

Laser Etching

High-resolution laser etching produces photorealistic portraits, landscapes, and fine detail imagery on polished granite. 300+ DPI equivalent resolution.

QC: Resolution clarity, image fidelity
Step 10: Dry Assembly
10

Dry Assembly

Every monument is fully assembled before packing — die on base, accessories mounted, multi-component sets verified for fit, color match, and structural alignment.

QC: Component fit, color consistency, overall aesthetics
Step 11: Packing & Crating
11

Packing & Crating

Custom foam-fitted standard export wooden crates protect each monument during ocean transit. Corner protectors, moisture barriers, and reinforced strapping.

QC: Crate integrity, foam fit, strap tension
Step 12: Container Loading
12

Container Loading

Systematic container loading with weight distribution planning. Each piece is logged with position mapping for easy unloading at destination.

QC: Weight distribution, loading plan documentation

Monument Manufacturing Process FAQ

How long does it take to produce a granite monument from start to finish?

Production is typically about 30 days after the 30% deposit is received and drawings and stone/material details are approved. Complex custom orders are confirmed in the pro forma invoice; ocean transit is separate. We provide a detailed production schedule with milestone dates when you place your order.

What quality standards do you follow for monument production?

Our six-point inspection covers: (1) dimensions against the approved drawing, (2) surface finish against the approved sample and order specification, (3) color consistency across components, (4) carving or etching against approved artwork, (5) dry-assembly fit, and (6) ISPM-15 crate construction. Buyers may appoint SGS, Bureau Veritas or their own QC agent for third-party inspection.

Can I receive production progress photos during manufacturing?

Yes. We proactively send photo documentation at every major production stage — raw block selection, cutting, polishing, carving/etching, dry assembly, and packing. Most clients receive 3-5 photo updates per order without asking. Additional photo or video updates are available anytime by email.

How are granite monuments packed for ocean shipping to the US or Europe?

Each monument is packed in custom foam-fitted standard export wooden crates with corner protectors, moisture barriers, and reinforced steel strapping. Weight distribution is carefully planned for container loading. Reinforced packing is used to reduce transit damage risk, and marine insurance is recommended.

Do you dry-assemble monuments before shipping?

Yes, every monument — without exception — is fully dry-assembled before packing. Die is placed on base, accessories are mounted, and multi-component sets are verified for fit, color match, and structural alignment. This catches any issues before your container leaves port, not after it arrives at your warehouse.
