German Cremation Memorial Project: Component Coding and Factory Trial Assembly

This project involved one 13-piece, two-colour cremation memorial from a four-container mixed order. Production was completed in May 2024 and shipment was released in June 2024. The record follows the component schedule, interface checks, full-size dry fit and same-set packing release.

Customer requirement

The German customer placed a four-container mixed order covering several cremation memorial designs. This model combines a perimeter border, two upright steles, a shaped rear pedestal, three front-border sections, rear connecting components, inner support rails and an accessory mounting component.

Because the memorial had to be disassembled for international transportation, each component had to be clearly identified and the complete memorial had to be dry-fitted in the factory before packing.

Actual challenge

The memorial contained mirrored components and several parts with similar shapes, while their installation positions and directions were different. The production team had to prevent cross-set mixing, maintain a continuous curve along the perimeter border, keep the black-and-beige interfaces level and flush, position both upright steles accurately, confirm the footprint and diagonals, and check the level, verticality and stability of the complete assembly.

How we handled it

Each memorial set received an order code, and each individual component received a unique identification code from A1 to G1. Before packing, the complete memorial was laid out at full size on the factory floor and assembled without permanent adhesive.

The inspection covered the 1800 × 1100 mm footprint, perimeter diagonals, curved-border continuity, joint width and height difference, black-and-beige flush alignment, the position and verticality of both upright steles, the contact condition of all supporting surfaces and overall stability. Small levelling blocks were used where needed. Interface edges requiring correction were fine-ground, followed by a second assembly and reinspection.

After the complete memorial passed inspection, the dry fit was photographed and recorded. Components were disassembled in sequence, cleaned, protected and moved into same-set numbered wooden crates.

Completed result

The complete factory dry fit passed inspection. The 13 coded stone components matched within the same memorial set, the black-and-beige interfaces were level and flush, the perimeter border formed a continuous line, both upright steles were correctly positioned and vertical, and the supporting surfaces were stable and evenly seated.

All components were released for same-set wooden-crate packing. The wider workshop photograph records 15 complete or near-complete cremation memorial groups from the same German order at different production and trial-assembly stages.
